Türkiye Sustainable Aviation Alliance (TSAA) recently held a strategic meeting to develop a roadmap for Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF) that aligns with Türkiye’s unique requirements, guided by insights from academic experts. Participants explored innovative SAF production technologies, assessed potential feedstocks, and outlined critical steps for establishing SAF production facilities in the country. The discussion also covered SAF production and certification processes. This collaborative effort, enriched with academic expertise, aims to establish a robust foundation for Türkiye’s sustainable aviation ambitions.

The meeting commenced with an opening presentation by TSAA Coordinator Prof. Hülya Cebeci, followed by an in-depth discussion on Türkiye’s biofuel production capacity and agricultural energy resources. Participants stressed the importance of securing a reliable feedstock supply for biofuel production, noting the challenges posed by competing demands for oil crops in the food sector. Advancing biofuel production for aviation was highlighted as a priority, with calls for developing new technological infrastructures, establishing experimental systems, and enhancing government incentives to support these initiatives.
