As part of the Türkiye Sustainable Aviation Alliance, a one-on-one meeting was held with DB Tarımsal Enerji to explore Türkiye's agricultural energy potential for Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF).
The discussion focused on Türkiye's waste oil capacity, potential agricultural products, and sources of agricultural energy that could contribute to SAF production. Representatives from DB Tarımsal Enerji stressed the importance of utilizing idle agricultural lands and researching crop varieties suited for energy production, while also prioritizing crops that do not compete with food supply.
The meeting also addressed the efficient use of agricultural lands in DB Tarımsal Enerji’s projects and the alignment of local agricultural products with certification standards. Emphasis was placed on producing SAF in compliance with international certification bodies, including the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) and the Roundtable on Sustainable Biomaterials (RSB). Participants underscored the need for a comprehensive analysis of Türkiye’s agricultural potential and efficient management of the certification process.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to collaborate on advancing Türkiye’s SAF production and agricultural energy capacity, with plans to continue these efforts through joint initiatives.
