The Türkiye Sustainable Aviation Alliance (TSAA) has brought together experts from various fields in a series of roundtable meetings to shape a roadmap for Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) tailored to Türkiye's needs.
The second meeting, titled “Short- and Long-Term Goals for Developing SAF Production Strategies: Sectoral Perspective,” was held on April 26, 2024, at The Grand Tarabya. This session focused on evaluating SAF production and application processes, strengthening collaboration among sector stakeholders, and gathering insights to better define industry requirements as part of the platform’s SAF Roadmap initiative.

The meeting began with opening remarks from TSAA Coordinator Prof. Hülya Cebeci, followed by presentations from founding members Turkish Airlines and Boeing Türkiye, who shared insights on the platform’s initiatives and the future potential of SAF. Prof. Cebeci introduced the platform and provided an overview of previous events, highlighting significant lessons from global SAF roadmap examples. Her presentation offered a concise summary of current regulations and future projections at both regional and national levels, providing valuable context for Türkiye’s SAF journey. Additionally, Prof. Cebeci referenced findings from the draft report, An Overview of Agricultural Energy in Türkiye,which provided supplementary insights into Türkiye’s SAF positioning. The session concluded with two Q&A segments that invited attendees to engage directly. Discussions then shifted to global reports, examining regulations, practices, and raw materials aligned with the platform’s objective to establish a comprehensive SAF roadmap for Türkiye. Detailed insights on global feedstock resources and Türkiye’s agricultural energy potential were shared, fostering a robust understanding among participants.
